Introduction

Circle, is a financial tech firm at the forefront of transforming global economic prosperity through programmable internet commerce. With its digital dollars powered by blockchain technology, Circle aims to redefine global commerce by combining digital dollars with traditional finance mechanisms.

Background

Originally launched as an alternative to traditional fiat business accounts, Circle's latest features target the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. Recognising the potential yields stablecoins like USDC can generate in DeFi protocols, Circle introduced high-yield business accounts to attract and retain users.

Challenge

While Circle’s offerings were powerful, their onboarding process utilising Google forms was not meeting business customer expectations. There was a clear need to revamp the onboarding journey to enhance user experience and drive adoption.

Approach

  1. Understanding:

    • Recognised the criticality of understanding both the user and the brand.

    • Identified user pain points, especially in onboarding, and strategised design solutions.

  2. Research:

    • Conducted competitive analysis and created user personas.

    • Developed problem statements targeting specific user needs.

    • Utilised storyboards to visualise product use.

  3. Analysis:

    • Synthesised research data to create user personas, capturing goals, behaviours, pain points, and needs.

  4. Design:

    • Built the Circle Yield product from the ground up, integrating new features and functionalities.

    • Streamlined the onboarding process by replacing the outdated Google forms mechanism, enhancing the user journey.

Features Introduced

  • Circle Account Nomenclature: Developed clear terminology for account types (Treasury, Platform) and financial products (CeFi yield, DeFi yield) to simplify user understanding.

  • User Stories & Features: Crafted user-centric features based on extracted user stories, focusing on seamless fund transfers, efficient allocation/redemption in high-yield products, and more.

  • Discussion Guides: Created structured conversation templates for interactions between Circle and other stakeholders.

  • Jobs Analysis: Performed a thorough "Jobs To Be Done" analysis, mapping out tasks users aim to accomplish with Circle's services and gauging Circle’s performance against competitors.

Outcome

Circle Yield, offers a seamless interface for businesses to engage in both traditional and decentralized finance. By addressing pain points, especially in the onboarding phase, Circle has positioned itself as a leading choice for businesses aiming to leverage the power of blockchain in finance.
